Graphic Artist at Ann Arbor District Library

Amanda V S. is an experienced graphic designer with a diverse background in art direction and visual communication. Since June 2015, Amanda has served as a Graphic Designer at the Ann Arbor District Library, managing projects and designing promotional materials for library programs and services. Amanda also lectures in the School for Environment and Sustainability at the University of Michigan, teaching graphics and visual communication to graduate landscape architecture students. As a Freelance Designer and Independent Artist since 2009, Amanda has provided illustration and graphic design services to various clients, including educational institutions and local non-profits. Previous experiences include positions as a Graphic Designer at Design Workshop, where Amanda produced marketing materials, and as a Senior Planner at Hamilton Anderson Associates, where Amanda managed an urban planning project for the City of Detroit. Amanda holds a Master of Landscape Architecture from the University of Michigan, a Master's Degree in Studio Art with a concentration in Graphic Design from Eastern Michigan University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Geology from Albion College.

Vision Statement The Ann Arbor District Library provides collections, programs, and leadership to promote the development of literate and informed citizens through open and equal access to cultural, intellectual, recreational, and information resources. Mission Statement The existence of the Ann Arbor District Library assures public ownership of print collections, digital resources, and gathering spaces for the citizens of the library district. We are committed to sustaining the value of public library services for the greater Ann Arbor community through the use of traditional and innovative technologies. The Ann Arbor District Library provides services at no charge to all residents living within the Ann Arbor District Library's service area. Library services are available to all others outside this service area for a fee. Over 8.8 million items have circulated system-wide during recent fiscal years. In addition to these items, thousands of people enter the library and its branches to utilize print and electronic reference resources, access the Internet through the Library’s fiber-optic connection, enjoy state-of-the-art Wi-fi service, participate in computer and Internet training, view a Library exhibit, or attend one of the Library’s many events. The Ann Arbor District Library (AADL) system is composed of the Downtown Library and four branch libraries: Malletts Creek, Traverwood, Westgate, and Pittsfield.
