Alla Tibbetts is the Chief Department of Medicine at Anna Jaques Hospital. Alla has over 25 years of experience in coding and healthcare administration. Alla started their career as a coder and quickly rose through the ranks to become a supervisor.
In 2010, they became the Coding Supervisor at Central Maine Medical Center. Alla was responsible for managing the inpatient, outpatient, and specialty surgical coding teams. Alla also reviewed and resolved HOPD coding denials and educated staff to prevent future denials. In addition, they developed the department intranet site and implemented e-learning solutions, including online and webinar-based coding assignments.
Under their leadership, the outpatient coding backlogs were reduced from 7 days to 3 days. Alla also eliminated duplicative work by combining the outpatient hospital coding team with the professional surgical coders and cross-trained staff to do both roles. The inpatient coding backlog was also reduced from 7 days to 1-3 days by implementing concurrent coding project and cross-training staff.
In addition, they managed the corporate AAPC coding certification renewal program which allowed for continuing education for all coders as a benefit. This significantly reduced the coding education expenses for the organization while providing a reduced annual renewal rate for the coding staff for their professional certification.
Alla was also the project manager for the implementation of Optum Insight coding software during system conversion from McKesson/3M to Cerner.
Alla Tibbetts is a highly skilled and experienced coder and healthcare administrator who has made significant contributions to their previous organizations. Alla is currently using their skills and experience to improve the Anna Jaques Hospital Department of Medicine.
