Maria L. Maccecchini, PhD has had a long and successful career in the life sciences sector. Maria L. began their career in 1982 as a Head of Molecular Biology and Research Scientist at IMC Corporation. In 1987, they were appointed Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer at Bachem Bioscience. In 1992, they founded and became CEO of Annovis, Inc., where they acquired a Scottish and a Japanese company and ultimately developed, manufactured and marketed a variety of nucleic acid-based products and provided services for businesses in the life sciences sector. In 2005, they became an Angel Investor at Mid-Atlantic Venture Group, and in 2002, they were an Angel Investor at Robin Hood Ventures. In 2009, they became Chief Executive Officer at Annovis Bio, Inc. In 2016, they became a Lecturer at The Wharton School.

Maria L. Maccecchini began their education at Caltech, where they studied Molecular Biology. Maria L. then went on to earn their Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Basel. Lastly, they completed a research program at the Roche Institute of Immunology.
