Emily Underwood

Emily Underwood is an experienced journalist and editor currently serving as the Associate Editor at Knowable Magazine since February 2022, having previously worked as a Science Content Producer for the same publication. As a freelance journalist since July 2016, Emily has contributed to notable outlets including the Washington Post, Smithsonian, Science News, and Wired. From June 2012 to December 2023, Emily was a Staff Writer and Correspondent for Science Magazine. Emily's background includes serving as a USC California Health Journalism Fellow and a Journalism Fellow at The Carter Center, focusing on refugee mental health. Emily's education includes a Master of Arts in Science Writing from The Johns Hopkins University and a Bachelor of Arts in Science and Society from Brown University.
