Paul joined Anthesis Group in January 2018 as Executive Board Director and Chief Sustainability

Officer.

Paul previously worked at Sainsbury’s-Argos where he was ‘Head of Sustainability, Energy, Engineering, Environment and Facilities Management’.

Paul was instrumental in delivering some of the highest returning investments in Sainsbury’s 148-year-old history through key sustainability investments and technology programmes. His strategic and operational experience span the built environment incorporating both embodied and operational carbon through design and selection of construction and engineering solutions. At a corporate level, Paul’s experience spans waste and recycling, energy and water management, measuring and reducing food waste, setting energy and carbon reduction targets, building resilience through sustainable supply chains and strengthening corporate reputation through tackling the challenges of climate change.

Paul was a founding shareholder and Non-Executive Director of Tamar Energy – an Anaerobic Digestion business that designed, implemented and operated a number of key AD Facilities throughout the UK. Prior to working for Sainsbury’s, Paul had a 14-year career at Tesco where he held roles including: Head of Step Change, Head of Simple, Head of Construction, Head of Facilities Management, Store Manager and attending the first Store Director Academy.

Paul is a Member of the’ Environmental and Sustainability Advisory Panel for The Household of HRH The Prince of Wales & The Duchess of Cornwall’, a ‘Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts’ and an Ambassador for “The Gift of Life” and “World Transplant Games”.
