Antigua & Barbuda

The Standards Unit within the Ministry of Tourism is presently focused on the Accommodations, Ground Transportation (Taxis) and Beach and Water Sports Sectors. Despite our present focus, the unit intends to create standards that cover all sectors and subsectors within the tourism industry. These and other standards will be discussed with key industry partners in order to ensure that the standards created fit the industry needs. Within the following months the Ministry intends to pass legislation which will seek to assist industry partners in creating and maintaining world-class products and services, which will, ultimately benefit Antigua and Barbuda as a whole. Standards will in no way decrease from each provider's uniqueness, but will, instead, allow for Antigua and Barbuda to be known as a destination that is high in service and product quality. In effect, standards and the process of standardization will add credence to the maxim "The beach is just the beginning".
