Rik Gijsbers

Cell And Bioprocess, ATMP at Antleron

Rik Gijsbers has been an integral part of KU Leuven since August 1997, holding various academic positions including Associate Professor and Assistant Professor, and serving as a Group Leader at Molecular Medicine with a focus on viral vector technology and gene therapy. Gijsbers has extensive experience in managing viral vector production as head of the relevant core facility and has contributed to the field through a PhD in Medicine, specializing in nucleotide pyrophosphatases/phosphodiesterases within the Biochemistry Division. In addition to the role at KU Leuven, Gijsbers has been involved with Antleron since March 2020, specializing in cell and bioprocess related to advanced therapy medicinal products (ATMP). Gijsbers earned a degree in Bioscience Engineering with high distinction from KU Leuven from 1992 to 1997, and completed secondary education at Sint-Albertus College in Haasrode from 1986 to 1992.
