René Aguilar

René Aguilar is currently the Vice President of Corporate Affairs and Sustainability at Antofagasta. Prior to this, they were the Group Head of Safety at Anglo American from January 2015 to February 2017. In this role, they were responsible for providing thought leadership on safety matters to Anglo American globally. René also led the development of the company's vision, policy, and strategy, as well as the development of standards, processes, and management systems to facilitate the delivery of the strategy globally.

From January 2012 to February 2013, René Aguilar was the Director of Health and Safety at the International Council on Mining and Metals (ICMM). In this role, they were responsible for leading ICMM's work on health and safety issues in the mining and metals industry.

From March 2013 to December 2014, René Aguilar was the Vice President of Sustainability and Corporate Affairs at CODELCO - Corporación Nacional del Cobre de Chile. In this role, they were responsible for leading CODELCO's work on sustainability and corporate affairs issues in the mining industry.
