Matt Schlitz is a postgraduate student in Archaeological Science at The Australian National University as of February 2024. Previously, Matt served as the Principal Heritage Officer for the Aboriginal Affairs and Reconciliation division at the Attorney-General's Department of South Australia from January 2020 to October 2023, where responsibilities included leading heritage conservation efforts, collaborating with Aboriginal communities, and providing training and technical expertise. Prior roles include Manager Operations at Aboriginal Heritage Tasmania from August 2015 to November 2019, Senior Archaeologist at Jacobs from April 2011 to July 2015, and Team Leader of Cultural Heritage at Biosis, where Matt led archaeological projects and provided technical guidance. Early career experiences include a Technical Officer position at Flinders University and various contract archaeological roles in Crete and Turkey. Educational qualifications include a Master of Arts in Archaeology from KU Leuven, a Graduate Diploma of Business Administration from Queensland University of Technology, and a Bachelor of Arts with Honours from The University of Queensland.
