Oren Melamud

Oren Melamud is the current Chief Technical Officer at Anyword. Prior to this, they worked as a Research Staff Member for Natural Language Processing at IBM from 2016 to 2019. There, they developed artificial intelligence models for providing automatic clinical decision support, using NLP and Deep Learning methods. Oren also researched machine learning methods for training efficient language models.

Before working at IBM, Oren was a Ph.D. student in Computer Science at Bar-Ilan University from 2012 to 2016. Their research focused on lexical and distributional semantics, where they used unsupervised machine learning methods to develop computational models that automatically learned semantic properties of words and identify semantic relations between them. This work improved the state-of-the-art on some highly competitive benchmarks and resulted in several publications in top-tier international NLP conferences (ACL, NAACL, EMNLP). In addition, they also enjoyed collaborating with colleagues to apply some of their models and ideas to educational NLP applications.

Oren Melamud's educational career includes a PhD in Computer Science from Bar-Ilan University, a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Computer Science from Bar-Ilan University, and a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Math and Physics from The Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
