Abraham Avalos

Scientist at AON3D

Abraham Avalos has worked in a variety of roles since 2006. In 2006, they were an intern at Petroperú S.A. - Refineria Conchan as a Process Engineer Intern. In 2007, they worked at PROCONT as a Projects Engineer. In 2008, they became a PhD Student at The University of Toledo College of Engineering. In 2014, they were a Materials Research Scientist at the Polymer Institute at The University of Toledo. Since 2017, they have been a Scientist at AON3D, a 3D printer manufacturer in Montreal. At AON3D, they have explored new venues in polymers science for the advancement of additive manufacturing technology applied to high performance polymers for aerospace applications. At The University of Toledo, they have assisted the Director in the management of the labs, developed collaboration with other research groups, managed projects for outside companies, advised, taught and supervised students in the use of instruments, and applied special techniques and designed experiments. At Petroperú, they coordinated with different organizational levels in the execution of projects for the maintenance of the desalter process unit, and the installation of fuel loading arms, control valves, relief valves, pipelines, and pumps in plant of processes. At PROCONT, they provided customer support in the selection and specification of equipment and assisted in the execution of projects for the installation of heat exchangers, pumps, and valves. At The University of Toledo College of Engineering, they focused on the synthesis and characterization of polymers for the development of a biomolecular sensor, using molecular imprinting technology coupled with Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR).

Abraham Avalos received a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Chemical Engineering from Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos in 2004, having started in 1999. Abraham then went on to The University of Toledo, where they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Biomedical/Medical Engineering in 2014.
