Apart We Shall Perish is a multidisciplinary collective operating at the intersection of art, ecology, and urban soil biodiversity.

The collective brings together artists, researchers, horticultural specialists, and community practitioners whose work focuses on multispecies coexistence, microbial diversity, and the cultivation of living soils within urban environments.

At present, the collective is developing Lumottu Metsä (Enchanted Forest), a therapeutic microforest located within the grounds of TYKS Compass Hospital in Turku, Finland. The forest is scheduled for completion in 2028, the project forms part of the hospital's courtyard area and will serve as one of its fifteen sensory rooms, contributing to its psychiatric care programme.

Its distinctive premise is the creation of an urban forest through biomimicry inspired by the biological communities of old-growth forests in Southwest Finland, with particular emphasis on the microbial communities of the forest floor. The project explores how ecological restoration, sensory experience, and more-than-human coexistence can become part of contemporary care environments and urban life.
