Nawied Jabarkhyl is an experienced media professional with a diverse background in journalism and broadcasting. Nawied started their career as a presenter, reporter, and producer at Negat Radio, a Ethiopian and East African radio station. During this time, they produced, edited, and presented a half-hour show every fortnight, deciding on stories that would resonate with the target audience.
From there, Nawied gained work experience at various media organizations, including BBC where they worked as a Broadcast Assistant, contributing story ideas and assisting the production team for the Drive show with Eddie Nestor. Nawied also worked as a freelance newsreader at Radio Jackie and Time 107.5 FM.
In 2012, Nawied joined Gulf News, initially as a Broadcast Journalist, responsible for reporting and newsreading. Nawied later became a Presenter for Gulf News Television, where they honed their skills in on-camera presenting. During this time, they covered a wide range of topics and gained experience in the newsroom environment.
In 2015, Nawied worked as a Freelance Writer and Producer for CNN International Commercial on the show "Connect the World with Becky Anderson." Nawied produced segments, wrote scripts, and created videos, images, and graphics for the show.
Nawied then joined Reuters in 2016, first as a TV Correspondent, Presenter, and Producer. Nawied set up and managed the Middle East bureau, offering regional TV reporting services for global broadcasters. Nawied reported from multiple countries, including Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, and Indonesia, breaking exclusive stories for TV and digital platforms.
In 2019, they joined CGTN Europe as a Correspondent and News Anchor, focusing on UK and European news. Nawied presented live reports, anchored news shows and bulletins, covered politics and business news, and analyzed complex issues in a simple manner. Nawied also reported on major events and practiced digital-first news reporting.
Currently, Nawied Jabarkhyl is working at APCO Worldwide as the Director and Head of International Media Relations, a role they started in 2023.
Nawied Jabarkhyl pursued their education with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Politics from the University of York. Nawied was enrolled in this program from 2008 to 2011. Subsequently, in the year 2011 to 2012, they attended the London College of Communication under the University of the Arts London, where they obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Broadcast Journalism, specializing in Journalism.
