Nate August has a diverse work experience spanning various industries. Nate started their career in 2012 as a Research Assistant at Cornell University, where they performed tasks such as sample collection, data entry, and weed seed identification.
In 2013, Nate worked as an Apprentice at Flying Pond Farm, where they cared for organic vegetable crops and gained experience managing volunteer laborers.
From 2014 to 2015, they served as a Manager at Dilmun Hill Student-Run Farm, where they co-managed all aspects of a small-scale organic vegetable farm and built strong relationships with customers.
Nate then joined Wegmans Food Markets, where they had two roles. From 2015 to 2016, they worked as a Continuous Improvement Analyst, designing and implementing efficient processes for organic fruits and vegetables packaging. From 2016 to 2018, they served as an Organic Farm & Orchard Manager, focusing on developing best practices for fruit, vegetable, and small grain production.
In 2019, Nate transitioned to Indigo, taking on the role of Data Scientist. Nate led a pilot program using IoT sensors for irrigation monitoring, reducing costs by over 8 times compared to conventional technologies. Nate also supported data collection and validation for a pilot program enabling sustainable grain sales and developed recommendations to reduce methane emissions.
