Sina Afrooze is the Co-Founder and CEO at Apera AI. Prior to this, they were a Software Engineer at Amazon Web Services (AWS) from November 2017 to January 2019 where they provided application-level support for deep-learning projects internal and external to AWS. Sina also published blogs and training materials on deep-learning applications with focus on MXNet as the platform. While at AWS, they implemented a state of the art Text-to-speech deep-learning model for AWS Polly and Alexa and also implemented the MXNet-backend of Intel Coach reinforcement learning platform. Sina ran multiple deep-learning training sessions at AWS Re:Invent as well as at customer sites and also published multiple blogs on deep-learning with specific focus on MXNet applications.

Prior to their time at Amazon Web Services, Sina Afrooze was the Director of Development - Devices at Avigilon from May 2006 to August 2014. Initially they were responsible for Avigilon's Firmware team and soon the entire device development team of engineers and managers that contributed to over 75% of the annual revenue of $300MM. Some management highlights during their time at Avigilon include initiating new processes for release management, agile development, continuous integration, matrix org for NPI, Hardware validation, and escalation management. Sina also worked with satellite teams on joint projects, negotiated favorable pricing and access to advanced sensors, worked with vendors to align technology roadmaps, worked with product managers on three-year product roadmap, participated in due diligence of M&A opportunities, and delivered Self-Learning Video Analytics,

Sina Afrooze graduated with a Bachelor of Science in engineering from Simon Fraser University.
