Yap Seng Chong

Yap Seng Chong, 61, male, a Malaysian, was appointed as an Independent Non-Executive Director of the Company on 18th May 2023. He was appointed as Chairman of the Audit Committee on 18th May 2023. He graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from University Malaya in 1986 and is a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants and Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accounts. He had previously served as Malaysian Institute of Accountants’ Council Member, Chairman of the Disciplinary Committee, Member of the Accounting and Auditing Standards Board, Chairman of the Audit and Risk Committee and Member of the Public Practice Committee and was also a member of the Interpretation Committee of the Malaysian Accounting Standards Board. He spent his entire career with Ernst & Young ('EY') which spanned 35 years, two of which were with EY London office. In his career with EY, he had held positions as Head of Assurance Practice, Professional Practice Director and ASEAN Independence Leader. He is currently the Independent Non-Executive Director of Malaysia Smelting Corporation Berhad, United Plantations Berhad and Hartalega Holdings Berhad.
