Francis Fernandes, P.Eng, is an experienced professional with a strong background in automation, controls, and engineering. Francis is currently the Director of Engineering - Automation & Controls at APG-Neuros. In this role, they lead and mentors various groups of team members within product development and special projects, with a focus on artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML). Francis collaborates with the US Department of Energy for a special project involving the implementation of Model Predictive Controller (MPC) for wastewater treatment plants in the US. Francis also builds and manages teams of talented engineers for special projects, maintains relationships with third-party integrators and clients, and mentors team members on various control solutions. Francis is proficient in designing control panels and has expertise in systems integration using various platforms. Prior to APG-Neuros, Francis held the position of Senior Control System Engineer at Candu Energy, where they were responsible for testing and reviewing controls systems. Francis also served as the Electrical & Software Systems Manager at Interweigh Systems Inc, where they focused on automation and control engineering, HMI/SCADA configuration, and PLC programming.

Francis Fernandes, P.Eng, member PEO, Ontario, has a comprehensive education history in the field of engineering. Francis obtained a Masters Degree in Engineering with a focus on Electrical and Computer Engineering from Ryerson University between 2006 and 2008. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the same institution between 1996 and 2000. In 1988, Francis pursued further education and received an IEng degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the Institution of Electronics and Electrical Incorporated Engineers. Francis'searliest educational achievement is a Technology Diploma in Electronics Engineering from St. Xavier's College, which they obtained from 1982 to 1985.
