Bernardo Maciel started their work experience as a Teaching Assistant at FEUP in 2006. Bernardo then worked as a Researcher at LSTS FEUP from 2008 to 2009, focusing on a Chemical Plume Tracing (CPT) problem with multiple Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs). From 2009 to 2010, they were a Systems Engineer at FEUP. In 2010, they worked as a Web Designer at 20|21 Conservation and Restoration of Contemporary Art and as a Systems Engineer and Entrepreneur at QMoS - Queue Monitoring Systems. In 2011, they became a Software Engineer at iTGrow, a Critical Software and BPI Company, and continued in that role until 2013. In 2014, they joined Critical Software (Vodafone Portugal) as a Software Engineer for a 10-month project involving the support and modernization of a Business Intelligence toolchain at Vodafone Portugal. Bernardo then worked as a Quality Assurance Engineer at Thales from 2014 to 2019. From 2019 to the present, Bernardo has been an Advanced Software Engineer in Test at Feedzai. Most recently, in 2023, they started as a Senior Quality Engineer at Apheris.
Bernardo Maciel's education history begins in 2003 when they enrolled at Faculdade de Engenharia da Universidade do Porto, where they pursued an Integrated Master's degree in Electrical and Computers Engineering. Bernardo completed their studies in 2008. During the same period, in 2007-2008, they also participated in an ERASMUS exchange program at KTH Royal Institute of Technology, focusing on Electrical and Computers Engineering.
In terms of additional certifications, Bernardo Maciel obtained the Certificate of Proficiency in English from Cambridge English Language Assessment in 2004. Later, in 2012, they earned the Certified Tester Foundation Level certification from the ISTQB - International Software Testing Qualifications Board. Bernardo further enhanced their skillset by obtaining the Certified ScrumMaster® (CSM®) certification from the Scrum Alliance in 2017.
Continuing their professional development, Bernardo Maciel obtained the Certified Project Management Associate - IPMA Level D certification from the IPMA: International Project Management Association in 2018. In 2020, they obtained the Agile Tester (CTFL-AT) certification from the ISTQB, further solidifying their expertise. Most recently, in December 2021, they achieved the AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate certification from Amazon Web Services (AWS).
