Pieter Wellens

Pieter Wellens has a diverse work experience. In 2005, they were a PhD researcher on the FWO project “The evolution of grounded grammars and ontologies”, a PhD teaching assistant, and a post-doc researcher on the ESF EuroUnderstanding project DRUST at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. In 2008 and 2010, they were a visiting researcher at the Sony Computer Science Lab Paris. In 2012, they returned to the Vrije Universiteit Brussel as a post-doc researcher. In 2014, they co-founded APIC and in 2017, they became the co-founder and CTO of APICbase.com, where they work to centralize and standardize ingredients, allergens, recipes, and menus, as well as optimize procurement, menu planning, and customer communication.

Pieter Wellens completed their education at the University of Antwerp, receiving a Bachelor Magna Cum Laude in Philosophy from 2006 to 2009 and a Magna Cum Laude in Computer Science from 2001 to 2005. Pieter also attended Groenendaalcollege.
