Richard Benson II, M.D., Facep

Richard Benson II, MD, FACEP has extensive experience in medical management and leadership roles. Richard currently serves as both the Strike Team Medical Director and an Attending Physician at ApolloMD, where they are responsible for developing and implementing departmental policies and procedures. Additionally, Dr. Benson is the Medical Director at VANCE COUNTY FIRE / EMS, where they continue to ensure compliance with policies and protocols while supporting the department's vision for emergency care.

Richard Benson II, MD, FACEP has an extensive education history. Richard obtained their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Chemistry from Morehouse College in 2009. Following this, they attended Meharry Medical College and earned their Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree in 2013.

Dr. Benson then pursued further specialization in Emergency Medicine by completing an Emergency Medicine Residency Program at the University of Chicago from 2013 to 2016. In 2016, they enrolled in the Emergency Medicine Fellowship Program at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, focusing on Emergency Medical Services (EMS) for a year.

Continuing their educational journey, Dr. Benson pursued a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree with a focus on Health/Health Care Administration/Management from North Carolina State University. Richard is currently in the process of completing this degree, with an expected graduation date in 2023.

In addition to their formal education, Dr. Benson has obtained certifications to further enhance their knowledge and skills. In 2018, they became an American Board of Emergency Medicine Diplomate. Richard also completed a statistics foundations course through LinkedIn in August 2020.
