Tom Boutell

CTO and Lead Software Architect at ApostropheCMS

Tom Boutell has over 25 years of work experience in software engineering, development, and architecture. Tom began their career in 1992 with Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory as a programmer, developing workstation computational biology software in C and one of the first web-based interactive database applications. In 1994, they joined RealNetworks as a software engineer, designing and implementing most aspects of the original RealAudio 1.0 client and server. In 1995, they founded Boutell.Com, Inc. and served as the owner. From 2008 to 2019, they were the lead developer and operations manager at Punk Ave, leading the development of interactive websites and applications with a focus on the Apostrophe content management system and Node.js. Since 2019, they have been the CTO and Lead Software Architect at Apostrophe Technologies, Inc.

Tom Boutell attended the University of Delaware from 1988 to 1992, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Computer Science and English.
