Janel Vancas

Janel Vancas has over 20 years of work experience in the education field. Janel began their career in 1999 as a Special Educator and Instructional Coach for Special Education at Altoona Area School District. In 2008, they moved to Appalachia Intermediate Unit 08 as a Supervisor of Instructional Services. In 2014, they were promoted to Assistant Director of Curriculum and Administrator of Innovation, Incubation & Development. In 2018, they were promoted again to Director of Curriculum Innovation at Appalachia Intermediate Unit 08.

Janel Vancas began their educational journey in 1994 when they earned a Bachelor's degree in Special Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Janel then went on to Gannon University, where they earned a Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction in 2003. Finally, in 2004, they earned their K-12 Principal Certification from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
