Deanna Mool has extensive experience in the legal field, specializing in healthcare and regulation. Deanna is currently serving as the Chief Legal Officer at Appalachian Regional Healthcare System, overseeing legal, risk, and accreditation matters for a network of three hospitals and 130 providers. Prior to this, they were a Partner and Chair of the Health Law Practice at Heyl, Royster, Voelker & Allen, where they represented healthcare providers in regulatory and transactional matters. Deanna also served as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and as Associate General Counsel for Healthcare and Regulation at SIU School of Medicine. Earlier in their career, Deanna worked as a partner/owner at Mool Law Firm, LLC and as General Counsel for the Illinois Department of Public Health. Deanna also held positions as General Counsel for the Illinois House of Representatives and as an associate at Locke Reynolds LLP. Deanna is licensed to practice law in North Carolina, Illinois, and Indiana.
Deanna Mool attended the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign from 1983 to 1987, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Economics. Following their undergraduate studies, they pursued a law degree at the University of Illinois College of Law from 1987 to 1990. Deanna Mool also obtained certifications in Health Care Compliance from the Health Care Compliance Association (HCCA) in September 2015. Additionally, they hold membership in the Illinois and Indiana Bar.
