Dennis Shaffer

Director Of Landscape Conservation at Appalachian Trail Conservancy

Dennis Shaffer has extensive experience in land conservation and management, currently serving as the Director of Landscape Conservation at the Appalachian Trail Conservancy since 2015. In this role, Dennis is responsible for developing strategic initiatives to protect priority areas within the Appalachian Trail landscape and fostering partnerships with various agencies. Previously, Dennis held the position of Vice President for Stewardship at the Vermont Land Trust, leading a program for over 1800 conservation easements. Other notable roles include Northern New England Field Office Director for the Trust for Public Land, Director of the San Juan County Land Bank, Executive Director of the Green Mountain Club, and Administrator of the Trust for Appalachian Trail Lands. Dennis holds a Master of Science in Environmental Resource Management and Administration from Antioch University New England and a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Resource Management from Penn State University.
