Dan Hellfeld

Dan Hellfeld is an accomplished engineering and research professional with a strong background in scientific engineering, machine learning, and nuclear physics. With experience as a Senior Scientific Engineering Associate at Berkeley Lab, Hellfeld developed real-time mapping algorithms and enhanced radiological source detection. Contributions as a Research Scientist included acquiring federal funding for machine learning applications in gamma-ray detectors. Currently, as a Senior CV/ML Engineer at Apple within the Vision Products Group, focus remains on algorithm development. Previous roles include a Physics Intern at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and a Research Fellow at the Nuclear Science and Security Consortium. Hellfeld holds a Master of Science in Nuclear Engineering from Texas A&M University and a Bachelor of Science in Physics from UC Santa Barbara.
