Mahdi Rahimi

Mahdi Rahimi is a Computer Vision Architect specializing in video engineering at Apple since August 2023, focusing on computer vision and machine learning algorithms for the Apple Vision Pro. Previously, Mahdi worked at Meta from May 2017 to August 2023, where roles included Staff Software Engineer, Engineering Manager, and CV/ML Lead, overseeing teams that developed innovative computer vision and machine learning capabilities for Oculus Quest VR devices, Portal, Instagram, and unreleased AR Glasses, and led the hand tracking team in AR interaction models. Mahdi's career also includes a position as Sr Research Scientist at Samba TV, where the development of ML-based content recognition algorithms took place, and work as a Research Scientist at Light, focusing on 3D computer vision algorithms for a computational camera. An educational background includes both a PhD and MSc from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, completed between January 2008 and January 2014.
