Abbas Rastegar

Abbas Rastegar is a seasoned professional in the field of semiconductor technology, currently serving as the Sr. Director of Technology and Principal Member of Technical Staff at Applied Materials since April 2015. Rastegar has spearheaded R&D plasma etch and cleaning technology development for sub 5 nm GAA devices and has led the implementation of cutting-edge ALE-based Si etch and pre-epitaxy cleaning technologies at customer sites. Prior to this role, Rastegar was the Director of Technology at Applied Materials, where the focus was on developing EUV mask blanks. Experience at SEMATECH included managing R&D programs in nano-defectivity and serving as an EUV subject matter expert. Rastegar's earlier roles at Philips Semiconductor and Radboud University involved significant contributions to plasma etch processes and research in the manipulation of biomolecules. Rastegar holds a PhD in Physics from the University of Ljubljana, along with advanced degrees in physics from notable institutions.
