Robert Lerman

Robert Lerman is an accomplished economist with extensive experience in social policy research and education. Currently serving as the Chairman of the Board for Apprenticeships for America since September 2021, Lerman also holds positions as an Institute Fellow at the Urban Institute and President of the American Institute for Innovative Apprenticeship, where efforts focus on expanding apprenticeship opportunities in the U.S. As a Professor Emeritus of Economics at American University, Lerman has contributed significantly to the fields of labor economics, poverty, and social policy, also spearheading the establishment of a master's program in Financial Economics for Public Policy. Lerman's academic journey includes a PhD in Economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an A.B. in Economics from Brandeis University. Additionally, Lerman is a research associate with IZA, contributing to ongoing economic research efforts.
