Prior to their current roles, Dr. Janda had an extensive career in the Commissioned Corps of the U.S. Public Health Service. Trent served as a Senior Medical Officer (O-6) and retired in August 2019. During their tenure, they held various leadership positions, including project manager, director, advisor, subject matter expert, reviewing officer, and trainer. Dr. Janda provided direct primary care in critical mission areas, highlighting their commitment to public health, patient safety, and access to care.

Dr. Janda also gained valuable experience at the FDA as a Clinical Reviewer from December 2017 to July 2019. In this role, they conducted comparative analysis of generic drugs versus brand name drugs to ensure patient safety and consistent usage. Trent also reviewed clinical study protocols and determined maximum daily intake of medications to provide guidance for patient safety.

Earlier in their career, Dr. Janda served in the U.S. Coast Guard as a Senior Medical Officer and Flight Surgeon from June 2007 to December 2017. Trent supported operational missions by overseeing members' health status, physical fitness, immunization, and readiness standards. Dr. Janda also supervised Physician Assistants and trained Corpsmen for independent duties.

Before joining the Coast Guard, Dr. Janda served in the U.S. Army as a Physician from June 1999 to June 2007 and in the Army Reserves as a Medical Officer from August 1994 to June 1999. Additionally, they worked as a Graduate Assistant at the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine from 1996 to 1997 and as an Instructional Designer/Graduate Assistant at the Michigan State University Department of Physiology from 1990 to 1994.

Trent Janda, DO began their education at Michigan State University in 1987 and graduated in 1991 with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Marketing. Trent then pursued their interest in medicine and enrolled at the same university from 1991 to 1993, where they studied Pre-Medicine/Pre-Medical Studies as a graduate student in the College of Education. From 1994 to 1999, Trent Janda, DO completed their Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree at Michigan State University, specializing in Osteopathic Medicine/Osteopathy. In July 2002, they obtained a certification in Family Medicine from the American Board of Family Medicine.
