Ricardo Capote has worked in various roles in the technology and engineering industries since 2009. Ricardo began their career as a Researcher at the Instituto de Biofísica e Engenharia Biomédica, where they worked on the Clear-PEM Consortium, building a scanner for breast cancer diagnosis in collaboration with CERN. Ricardo then moved on to a Teacher Assistant role at the Universidade de Lisboa - Faculdade de Ciências in 2013. In 2014, they joined Deimos Engenharia as a Project Engineer, where they designed and developed Data Pipelines for access, retrieval, processing, analysis, and visualization of large volume Earth Observation (EO) and non-EO datasets. Ricardo also took on the role of Technical Manager. In 2018, they joined IPMA Instituto Português do Mar e da Atmosfera as an Engineering Team Lead (Data/SW Engineering), where they guided an engineering team and contributed to the development and maintenance of operational data pipelines for retrieval, processing, and dissemination of satellite data in near real-time. Ricardo proposed and implemented solutions to improve the existing ones in terms of performance, scalability, and maintenance. In 2021, they joined Aptoide as a Technical Lead.
Ricardo Capote obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Biomedical Engineering and Biophysics from the University of Lisbon in 2016. Prior to that, they completed an Integrated Master in Biomedical Engineering from the Universidade Nova de Lisboa in 2008. In 2017, they also obtained a certification from the Lisbon Data Science Academy's Starters Academy.
