Lorenzo De Mattei

Lorenzo De Mattei has a diverse work experience in the field of Natural Language Processing (NLP). Lorenzo started their career as a Research Intern at Università di Pisa in 2012. Later, they became a Computational Linguist Intern at NetBase Solutions, Inc. in 2013. Lorenzo then joined SyNTHEMA Srl as an NLP Engineer in 2014 before moving on to Fondazione Bruno Kessler (FBK-irst) as a Research Intern in 2015. In the same year, they also worked as an NLP Engineer (Contractor) at Travel Appeal. In 2016, Lorenzo joined Integris S.p.A as an NLP Engineer and continued until 2017. Lorenzo then worked at Vable as an NLP Engineer in 2017. In 2018, they became a Lecturer at Università di Pisa and also co-founded Aptus.AI, where they currently hold the role of Co-Founder & CTO.

From 2017 to 2020, Lorenzo attended the Università di Pisa, where they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Computer Science.

In 2019 to 2020, they were a visiting PhD student at the University of Groningen, specializing in Computational Linguistics.

Earlier, from 2013 to 2016, Lorenzo obtained a Master's degree in Language Technologies from the Università di Pisa.

Prior to that, from 2010 to 2013, they completed their Bachelor's degree in Digital Humanities, also at the Università di Pisa.

In addition to their formal education, Lorenzo has acquired several certifications. In February 2021, they completed a certification in Digital Product Management: Modern Fundamentals from the University of Virginia Darden School of Business. In October 2020, they obtained an Innovation and Business Management Core Programme certification from EY.

Furthermore, Lorenzo has attained multiple certifications from various institutions. In August 2018, they received a certification in Introduction to Augmented Reality and ARCore from Coursera Course Certificates. In May 2018, Lorenzo obtained a PhD+ 2018 certification in Research valorization, innovation, and entrepreneurial mindset from the Università di Pisa. In March 2018, they completed an Academic English - Level C1 certification from the Università di Pisa. Lastly, in November 2016, Lorenzo obtained a certification in Hadoop Platform and Application Framework, also from Coursera Course Certificates.
