Chris Beattie

Chris Beattie serves as the Chief Scientific Officer at AquaBounty since July 2022, where responsibilities include leading Research & Development, Compliance, and Regulatory functions while focusing on genomics, gene editing, and fish health. Beattie also holds a position on the Board of Directors for ViAqua Therapeutics LTD, contributing to health management solutions in aquaculture since November 2021. Previously, Beattie was the Regional Business Director for North America and Australasia at AKVA group ASA, with a mandate to enhance revenues and restructure the management team. Extensive experience at Merck involved roles such as Executive Director of Precision Aquaculture and Head of Global Aquaculture Business, driving innovation and market growth. Beattie's career commenced at Skretting North America, where roles progressed from Technical Support Manager to General Manager, overseeing significant operational and financial responsibilities. Beattie's academic credentials include a Ph.D. in Fish Physiology from the University of St Andrews and a B.Sc. Hons in Aquatic Bioscience from the University of Glasgow.
