Desmond Chan has a diverse work experience in the technology industry. Desmond started their career as a Software Consultant at Pinnacle Technologies in 2003. In the same year, they also worked as a Senior Software Engineer at Asempra Technologies, where they played a crucial role in pitching for funding and led a team of engineers for the MS Exchange Server Protection project.
Desmond then joined VMware in 2007, initially working as a Senior ISV Solution Engineer before transitioning to the role of Technical Marketing Manager. In these positions, they designed virtualization solutions, supported sales teams, and presented at industry events. Desmond stayed with VMware until 2010.
From 2010 to 2012, Desmond worked as a Senior Product Manager at Symantec, focusing on the Storage and Availability Management Group. Desmond was responsible for the ApplicationHA product.
In 2012, Desmond joined Aster Data as a Technical Product Manager, where they formulated the Big Data/Hadoop product strategy and defined the product roadmap for Aster products in relation to Hadoop integration.
Desmond's next role was at Software AG in 2013, where they served as the Director of Product Management and Marketing. Desmond was the Product Owner of the In-Genius product line, which won the Data Week Innovator Award. This product incorporated CEP, BigMemory, Universal Messaging, and a real-time dashboard.
Desmond then joined H2O.ai in 2016 as the Senior Director of Marketing, where they led marketing efforts for the company.
In 2017, Desmond became the Senior Director of Product Marketing at Loggly, which was later acquired by Solarwinds.
In 2018, Desmond had two positions. Desmond was a Product Marketing Consultant at Domino Data Lab and also served as the Chief Product Officer and Co-Founder of Aquila Clouds.

Desmond Chan (He/Him) has a diverse education history spanning multiple institutions and degrees. Desmond first attended the University of California, Berkeley from 1994 to 1997, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Computer Science and Japanese Language. Following this, Desmond pursued further education at Stanford University from 1998 to 1999. During this time, they earned a Master of Science degree in Computer Science. Desmond then returned to the University of California, Berkeley to attend the Haas School of Business from 2008 to 2011. There, they obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a focus on Entrepreneurship and Finance. Additionally, in 2013, Desmond attended the Berkeley Executive Coaching Institute, where they received an Executive Coaching Certification.
