Aaron Best is the President of Aquora Research & Consulting, which aims to improve water quality for better health and well-being by providing data-driven solutions. At Hope College, Aaron serves as Co-Director of the Global Water Research Institute, Professor of Genetics, and Chair of the Department of Biology. Aaron has also held roles at the American Society for Microbiology as a Distinguished Lecturer. Aaron holds a Ph.D. in Microbiology from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from William Jewell College.

We envision a world where enhanced water quality improves people’s health and well-being by equipping individuals, communities, and organizations to make data-driven decisions about their water. We are experts in our fields, integrating water quality data with assessment of health and economic indicators. By building relationships, we identify problems, find solutions, and promote sustainability in a community’s water supply for the long-term. We are a leader in surveillance testing, turning wastewater data into actionable outcomes since August 2020. As COVID-19 turned our world upside-down, we met the moment by implementing daily sampling and processing from building level to municipal wastewater treatment plant level. Our cutting-edge assessment and quick turn-around allows colleges, municipalities, and care facilities to nimbly manage their safety strategies based on real-time data and customized analysis.
