Arabian Cement Company (ACC) was first established in 1997. In 2004, Cementos La Union (CLU), a leading Spanish cement producer, acquired the majority of shares of ACC and formed a Spanish-Egyptian management team. Committed to the Egyptian market, CLU entered market with the objective of establishing a leading entity in the cement industry. They are meeting this objective by exerting all efforts to expand their operations in order to contribute to the development of the economy by pumping more investments into the market, in addition to creating job opportunities. In 2007, ACC finished the first stage of its factory and shortly after announced the commencement of operations for its first clinker production line. By 2011, the company has continued its original projects and invested in an additional line and 4 mills, bringing ACC total cement production capacity to 5 MM tons per year. i.e. 10% of the total production of cement . Currently, ACC employs 1700 employees both directly and indirectly, and contributes 0.16% to the Egyptian GDP.
