Julia Volmer has been working in the software engineering industry since 2011. Julia started their career as a Research Intern at the German Aerospace Center (DLR). In 2014, they moved to DESY as a Research Associate, where they developed a new computational method for lattice gauge theory and implemented it in C++ using high-performance libraries and distributed computing. In 2019, they joined Fraunhofer IAIS as a Project Manager and successfully coordinated a national research proposal. In 2020, they moved to lise GmbH as a Software Engineer, where they improved the code quality of legacy code by introducing the builder pattern to the tests and organizing a bi-weekly coding club. Currently, they are working as a Software Engineer at ArangoDB since 2022.

Julia Volmer has a comprehensive educational background in Physics. Julia completed their Bachelor of Science in Physics at The University of Bonn from 2007 to 2010. Julia then continued their studies at the same university, earning their Master of Science in Physics from 2011 to 2013. Finally, they earned their Doctorate in Theoretical and Computational Physics from Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin in 2018.
