Araya
Joined Sony after graduating from Waseda University Faculty of Political Science and Economics in 1960. After joining the company, he was stationed in Switzerland and mainly engaged in overseas business such as the establishment of Sony France. After returning to Japan, he was appointed as a director in 1989 after serving as a general manager of the audio business division and a general manager of the home video business division. From 1995 to 2000, he was president and COO, and from 2000 to 2005, he was chairman and group CEO, and was the top management of Sony for about 10 years. After retiring from Sony Chairman and Group CEO in June 2005, he established Quantum Leap Co., Ltd. in September 2006. As the founder and CEO of the company, he is engaged in activities to support the transformation of large companies and the development of venture companies. In June 2012, he established the NPO Asia Innovators Initiative as an open platform for creating innovation originating in Asia, and became the chairman. It collects and disseminates knowledge for social innovation.
