Vesa Leppanen

CTO at Arbonaut

Vesa Leppanen has a diverse work experience in the field of technology and forestry. Vesa started their career at Oy FEG as a Project Secretary/Manager before moving on to Oy Arboreal Ltd as a Project Manager, where they developed Arboreal Forest Inventory Tools. Vesa then worked at the University of Joensuu as a Researcher, focusing on Machine Vision in Remote Sensing Image Interpretation for Forest Inventory. Vesa returned to Oy Arboreal Ltd as a Manager for the Machine Vision Business, where they developed the Arboreal Forest Inventory Tools and Business Concept. Vesa then joined Arbonaut as the CTO/Director, Content & Partnerships, where they played a key role in the development of mobile location-based services and oversaw the sale of Arboreal Technology to Falcon Informatics. At Falcon Informatics, Vesa served as the Chief Technology Officer, leading the development and application of Falcon Forest Inventory Technology. Vesa then returned to Arbonaut, this time as the Manager of Remote Sensing, responsible for managing the Forest Inventory Business Unit and running various remote sensing and GIS-related projects. Vesa later joined Utility Risk Management Corporation as the Chief Technology Officer and Head of Product Development, leading the design and implementation of the technology strategy. Currently, Vesa holds the position of CTO at Arbonaut Ltd, where they continue to contribute to the development of information gathering and GIS solutions for forest inventory and natural resource management.

Vesa Leppanen completed their MSc in Forest Technology at Joensuun yliopisto from 1991 to 1997. Prior to that, they attended Lukio, but no specific degree or field of study is provided.
