Senior Director, New Product Planning at Arbor Biotechnologies

Catherine Symonds, PhD has a strong background in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry, with expertise in new product planning, external innovation, and global oncology strategy. Catherine is currently serving as the Senior Director of New Product Planning at Arbor Biotechnologies. Prior to this, they worked as the Program Lead of External Innovation at Marengo Therapeutics. Catherine also held several senior leadership roles at EMD Serono, including Sr. Director of Global Oncology Strategy & New Product Planning and Director of Innovation and Transformation. Catherine began their career as a Ph.D. Scientist at CNIO - Spanish National Cancer Research Centre, and also gained experience as a Research Assistant and Biology Teaching Assistant at Temple University. Catherine obtained their Ph.D. and completed their Italian Studies Teaching Assistantship at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

Catherine Symonds, PhD, holds a diverse education history. Catherine first attended Weston High School before pursuing a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Italian Studies at the University of Massachusetts Amherst from 2003 to 2007. Continuing their studies at the same institution, they obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Microbiology in 2008, followed by a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Microbiology from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2008. Catherine then pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid from 2010 to 2015. In 2014 to 2015, they also completed an International Executive Program on Management Fundamentals for Scientists and Researchers at IE Business School. Additionally, Catherine holds a Category C Animal Care and Use Certificate from the Federation of European Laboratory Animal Science Associations.
