Amelia Staats, Ph.D.

Amelia Staats, Ph.D. has a diverse work experience in various research and academic roles. Amelia is currently working as a Medical Writer at Arbor Scientia Group since 2023. Prior to this, they served as a Postdoctoral Researcher at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center from 2018 to 2023, conducting research on medical device and antimicrobial agent sectors. Amelia has also worked as a Graduate Research Fellow and Teaching Assistant at the same university, studying the mechanisms of infection development and serving as an advisor.

Amelia gained experience as a Research Fellow at Sandia National Laboratories in 2022, studying host fluid-induced biofouling of biosensors. Additionally, Amelia worked as a Research Assistant at The Ohio State University Department of Microbiology from 2017 to 2018, focusing on tRNA editing and modification pathways. Amelia also contributed to research on cancer risk among occupational firefighters at The Ohio State University College of Public Health from 2017 to 2018.

Amelia started their professional career with an internship at Ohio EPA in 2017, where they worked in the Air Toxics Division and gained experience in air sampling and risk assessment analysis. Amelia also interned at The Delaware General Health District in 2016, working on trapping and preparing mosquito specimens for West Nile Virus detection.

Additionally, Amelia served as an Ambassador for Rotary International from 2012 to 2014. Overall, their work experience demonstrates a strong background in research, teaching, and medical writing.

Amelia Staats, Ph.D., pursued their education at The Ohio State University. From 2014 to 2018, they completed their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Public Health. Building on their undergraduate studies, from 2018 to 2022, Amelia continued their academic journey at the same institution, achieving a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Microbiology.
