Joana Silva

In 2000, Joana Silva began working as a Teacher, and held this role until 2009. From 2005 to 2010, they worked as a Post-doctoral researcher in Food Microbiology at CBQF, Escola Superior de Biotecnologia, Universidade Católica Portuguesa. Following this, Joana joined A4F-Algae for Future in 2010 as a Senior Project Manager, overseeing various national and international projects. Joana left this position in 2015. In 2015, Joana worked as an I&D Consultant (50% time) at Necton until 2016, and then transitioned to a similar role at Secil - ALGAFARM. From 2016 to 2019, Joana worked as an R&D Manager at SECIL / Algafarm. In 2018, they began working at Allmicroalgae as a Plant Manager and Technical and R&D Manager. Currently, Joana holds the position of Head of Biotechnology at Arborea, starting in November 2022.

Joana Silva completed their Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, with a specialization in general Microbiology, at the Escola Superior de Biotecnologia, Universidade Católica Portuguesa from 1992 to 1996. Joana then pursued a Master's degree in Biology/Biological Sciences at the Zoology Department of Coimbra University from 1997 to 1999. Afterward, they furthered their education by obtaining a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Biotechnology and Food Microbiology from CBQF, Escola Superior de Biotecnologia, Universidade Católica Portuguesa, which they completed between 2000 and 2005.
