Tara Essock-Burns, PhD, is a Scientist and Microscopy Core Facility Manager at Arcadia Science since November 2022. Previously, Tara worked as a Research Associate in the Division of Biosphere Sciences and Engineering at the Carnegie Institution for Science from March 2022 to November 2022, focusing on cross-functional project management. Tara's extensive research experience includes serving as an Assistant Researcher and Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, where studies centered on the effects of beneficial bacteria on animal tissue development and the squid-vibrio symbiosis model. Tara earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Marine Sciences from Duke University in 2015, where research explored the biochemical strategies marine invertebrates employ to manage microbial populations. Prior education includes a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Emory University in 2010.
