Dan Atkinson is a seasoned professional in the field of archaeology, currently serving as the Head of Coastal, Marine & Inland Waters at Archaeological Management Solutions since June 2023. Prior experience includes a role as Director at Wessex Archaeology from July 2012 to February 2023, where Dan was responsible for corporate strategy, budget management, and leading a diverse team of heritage professionals. Earlier positions include Regional Manager at Wessex Archaeology, focusing on brand development and operational accountability for the Scottish sector, and Maritime Manager at Headland Archaeology (UK) Ltd, where Dan developed the maritime portfolio. Dan's career began as a Maritime Archaeologist at the University of St Andrews. Educational qualifications include a PhD and Master’s Degree in Maritime Archaeology from the University of St Andrews and a BA Hons in Archaeology from Newcastle University.

All of our consultants come with extensive academic and professional backgrounds in archaeology and related disciplines. Over the past two decades, they have built up unrivalled experience across a wide range of developments involving complex cultural heritage issues in Ireland, the UK and Australia. Based on this proven track record, we provide project-specific heritage solutions and solid support to our clients in their negotiations with heritage authorities. We also manage the implementation of archaeological works on behalf of our clients, delivering quality results in a timely and cost-effective manner.
