Tara Mewawalla

Tara Mewawalla is currently an advanced journalism apprentice at BBC News, having started in September 2023. Previously, Tara served as a community reporter for Newsquest from August 2022 to July 2023, covering various titles including the Hackney Gazette and the East London Advertiser. Tara's experience includes tutoring English Language and Literature, History, and university entrance subjects at Carfax Education from May 2021 to September 2022. While studying at the University of Oxford, Tara wrote for the Cherwell Newspaper and interned at Grazia Middle East. Additional roles include researching for the Ashmolean Museum's project on representation and serving as a Women's Representative at Corpus Christi College. Tara holds a Master of Science in Gender Studies from the London School of Economics and a degree in English Literature and Language from the University of Oxford.
