Evelyn Gaiser serves as the George M. Barley Jr. Endowed Chair and Executive Director of the School of Environment, Arts & Society at Florida International University since June 2014, with previous roles as a Professor and Associate Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences. Gaiser has been a Research Associate at Archbold Biological Station since August 2001 and held positions as a Research Technician at Ohio Agricultural and Research Development Center from June 1988 to August 1998. Academic experience includes serving as a Graduate Research and Teaching Assistant at Iowa State University from June 1989 to July 1997, and at the UGA Savannah River Ecology Laboratory and Odum School of Ecology from August 1991 to June 1997. Gaiser earned a PhD in Ecology from the University of Georgia, a Master of Science in Animal Ecology from Iowa State University, and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Kent State University.
