Eric Calhoun

Supervisory Horticulturist at Architect of the Capitol

Eric Calhoun currently serves as Supervisory Horticulturist at the Architect of the Capitol, a position held since June 2025. Prior to this role, Eric was with the Smithsonian Institution from February 2017 to May 2025, where responsibilities included the care and maintenance of gardens at the National Museum of African American History and Culture, as well as the Smithsonian American Art Museum and Portrait Gallery, alongside managing budgeting and planning for those projects. Eric's experience in horticulture also includes positions such as Account Manager at Wheat's Custom Lawn and Landscape, Project Manager/Landscape Designer at Biafore Landscape Development, Service and Warranty Manager at Fine Landscapes, and Sales Representative at Merrifield Garden Center. Education includes a B.A. in African and African American Studies with a second major in International Relations from the University of Virginia and a Master of Professional Studies in Landscape Design from The George Washington University.
