Matthew Sassu has a long history of work experience. In 2007, they began working as a Range Assistant at Masterdrive. In 2008, they worked as an Advanced Sales Representative at Vector Marketing. From 2010 to 2012, they worked as a Research Assistant at the Laboratory of Atmospheric and Space Physics. From 2012 to 2016, they worked as an Optical Software Engineer at Radiant Vision Systems. From 2016 to 2018, they worked as an Optical Test Engineer at Microsoft through H10 Capital. In 2018, they worked as a Machine Learning Consultant at Eller Business Consulting. Also in 2018, they worked as a Software Developer for Medical Imaging at The BIO5 Institute. In 2019, they worked as a Software Engineer at Boeing and as a Senior Software Engineer at ArcScan, Inc.

Matthew Sassu obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Astrophysics/Astronomy from the University of Colorado in 2011. Matthew then attended the University of Arizona, where they obtained a Graduate Certificate in Optical Sciences in 2015, followed by a Master of Science in Optics/Optical Sciences in 2018. In 2017, they also obtained a Master of Business Administration from the University of Arizona's Eller College of Management. Matthew also holds a Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) certification from the Scrum Alliance, obtained in July 2020.
