Before Gen II, Mr. Smyth was a Controller at The Energy & Minerals Group (EMG), a private equity firm focusing its investments in the oil and gas and steel-making minerals industries, for nearly seven years. Mr. Smyth was responsible for overseeing the accounting and reporting for multiple EMG funds and co-invest entities. Earlier in his career, Mr. Smyth spent over seven years with KPMG in Dallas, serving clients in the financial services industry, with a primary focus on private equity and real estate funds.

Mr. Smyth graduated from Texas A&M University, where he received a BBA in Accounting and a MS in Finance, and he is a Certified Public Accountant.
