João Garcia has a diverse work experience in the fields of investment, private equity, and consulting. João started their career as a Research Fellow at Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia in 2015. Later, they worked as a Business Analyst at McKinsey & Company from 2015 to 2017. João then gained experience in private equity by interning at Bronfman LLC in 2018 and 2019. At Bronfman LLC, they supported diligence efforts for various transactions and conducted initial due diligence. Following that, João joined Barclays Investment Bank as an Associate in the Power, Utilities & Infrastructure division. During their time there, they advised on the sale of stake in a pan-European fibre infrastructure company, supported a renewables player in a potential takeover, and pitched to potential clients in various industries.
João's career also includes roles at Arcus Infrastructure Partners LLP, where they served as an Associate Investment Director in 2020 and 2023. In this role, they were responsible for asset management, valuation, due diligence, and strategic planning tasks for investments in toll road operators and vehicle inspection businesses.
Additionally, João worked at EXA Infrastructure as part of the Strategy and M&A team in 2022. During this time, they led a synergy assessment for a potential acquisition and supported the assessment of bolt-on acquisitions.
In 2021, João had a board observer role at Brisa, the largest toll road operator in Portugal. Overall, their work experience showcases their expertise in investment, private equity, and strategic planning in the infrastructure sector.
João Garcia completed a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a major in Finance at the London Business School from 2017 to 2019. Prior to that, they obtained a Master of Science (MSc) in Economics from the Nova School of Business and Economics from 2013 to 2015. João also completed their Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Economics at the same institution from 2010 to 2013. In addition to their degrees, João holds certifications including DELE - B2 from Instituto Cervantes, GMAT Exam: 720 from Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC), and DELF - B2 from Ministère chargé de l'Éducation nationale.
