David Choe

David Choe is currently the Commercial Operations Team Lead East at Ardmore Shipping. Prior to this, they were with Raffles Ship Chartering Pte Ltd for two years as an Operations Executive. In this role, they were responsible for all post-fixture vessel’s operations for Vegoil & Chemical tankers and ensured the vessels performed to C/P contract/charter party requirements. David also managed day to day all operational activities under voyage charter, time charter and in-house vessels by communicating with owners, agents, brokers, charterers, shippers and other clients.

Other responsibilities included handle post fixture matters for spot, time-chartered and in-house vessels such as stowage planning, agency appointment, bunker planning, cargo operations, freight billing, and profit & loss analysis. Furthermore, they ensured vessels were maximising profit on every voyage: i.e. max loading vessels, optimal rotation and route, and choosing cheapest bunkering ports. David also handled documentations such as bills of lading, LOI and monitored performance of vessels’ performance throughout their journeys in port and/or at sea.

In addition, they assisted the Chartering department with planning and calculation, i.e. max loadable, stow, optimal rotation and route, computation for freight, demurrage and lay-time calculation. Lastly, they resolved disputes and claims between Owners, Charterers and Shipper. David also took on a mentoring role for junior operation executives during their time at Raffles Ship Chartering Pte Ltd.

David Choe attended the University of Tasmania, Australian Maritime College and earned a Bachelor of Business in Maritime & Logistics Management.
